Nikola Popov

Nikola Popov graduated from the 91st German Language High School “Prof. Konstantin Galabov” in Sofia.

In 2020, he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Classical Singing from the National Academy of Music “Prof. Pancho Vladigerov” in Sofia, studying under Professor Ilka Popova and Professor Nikolay Motsov, PhD. In 2021, he obtained a Master’s degree in Classical Singing under the same professors. In 2022, he completed a second Master’s degree in Theatre Arts at the National Academy of Theatre and Film Arts “Krastyo Sarafov” (NATFA), under the academic supervision of Associate Professor Asen Terziev, PhD.

His professional development includes numerous specialist training programmes and masterclasses in opera singing and stage direction. In 2021 and 2023, he actively participated in a masterclass for young opera singers led by stage director Vera Nemirova. In 2022, he completed a directing internship at MusikTheater an der Wien under stage director Stefan Herheim.

He has attended opera singing masterclasses with Kammersängerin Professor Elena Filipova in 2022 and 2025, Kammersängerin Krasimira Stoyanova in 2023, and Evgeniya Dundekova in 2024 and 2025. In 2024, he undertook further specialist training in opera singing at the Boris Christoff Academy in Rome.

He received Third Prize at the Thomas Kuti Competition.

Since 2025, he has been a member of the ensemble of the Musical Dramatic Theatre “Konstantin Kisimov” in Veliko Tarnovo.
